Beware of limited background checks done by online nanny services, especially those that say they do it for a “minimal” fee. These checks are simply computer-name search database checks and are not as thorough as ours. They also don’t meet the nannies and check their IDs. How do you know they are the person that is checked out? Also, their legal status is not checked and you could be hiring someone that is not legally permitted to work. If you choose to go this route, be thorough, ask questions, and always check ID.

Ask them to be specific on exactly what items they check. Do they check other states’ criminal records if the nanny lived there? We do! We also check the nanny’s driving record, and social security number, and verify all childcare and personal character references obtaining them in writing. We conduct personal in-depth interviews with each nanny. We also ensure each nanny has an up-to-date CPR and First Aid Certification including the infant and child courses!
